Glen Ellen Firefighters Association

The Glen Ellen Firefighter Association began as an informal association of firefighters in the early days of the department and was incorporated in 1968.  The Association is considered to be a charitable organization under Section 501(c)3 of the Revenue Code.

The Association by-laws state the purpose of the members is threefold:
  1. To work in cooperation with the local fire protection district in the protection of the lives and property of the community.
  2. To make such recommendations to the Glen Ellen Fire Protection District Board of Directors as necessary for the efficient operation of the district.
  3. To educate the public in fire prevention and removal of hazards in and around the home and also in the importance of having an adequate water supply.

This close knit group that includes all firefighters of the District sponsors various department social events, participates in community events and conducts fundraising activities. The Association uses the funds raised to support the Association and to assist the Fire District in the acquisition of equipment and firefighting apparatus.

The Glen Ellen Firefighter's Association meets on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM at the fire station. In February the Association has an election of officers for the year and in December the annual end-of-the-year awards dinner is held. A subgroup of the Association called the Chief's Advisory board is maintained to advise the Chief of the Department on matters affecting operations.
